Practice & Assess Grammar - Grades 4-5 (I'm Lovin' Lit)
An interesting idea – grade level grammar tests to use with your choice of grammar instruction. One way to assess students’ grammar is to read essays they’ve written. This option is faster and more objective--to know where to focus instructional efforts going forward. A page or 2 of instruction (with practice) is followed by a task (the assessment of understanding part). Topics include capitalization, using plurals, compound subjects, direct/indirect objects, prepositions, etc. Tasks are short and sweet (i.e. painless!), so kids won’t mind. If you are using a non-traditional grammar instruction (such as interactive notebooks, unit studies, literature studies), this is a good way to check students are getting the grammar they’ll need later on. Answers are in the back. Reproducible for single classroom/family use only. Aligns to current standards. 128 pgs. ~ Sara
