It takes teamwork, strategy and puzzle solving to play the Initiative game. Set in 1994, this game is for 1-4 players who take the roles of teenagers in the year 1994 when they find a board game called “The Key” at a garage sale. This is a story-driven game that consists of several missions that each take 30-60 minutes and start with players reading a page of a comic book for instructions. Since each chapter builds on things that are learned from previous chapters, it is advantageous to continue this game with the same players that begin this cooperative story game. If you enjoy puzzles, mystery and code-breaking, this is a game that might be just right for you and your game family or group!
Our family has long enjoyed playing co-operative games from Family Pastimes. We play competitive ones, too, but enjoy fostering team spirit as we all work toward achieving a goal. If you haven't tried this alternative to playing together, here's an assortment of some of our favorites from this company.
