This workbook lays a foundation for effective communication with the English language. Students will learn the basics of English grammar, including the definition and usage of the eight parts of speech. In addition, students will examine how these parts are to be properly used in phrases, clauses, and sentences. Correct sentence structure, diagramming, pronoun usage, and forming good paragraphs are also emphasized.

As the title implies, the emphasis is on applying grammar rules to writing. The program stresses correct sentence structure, sentence diagramming, and good paragraph formation. As with all Christian Liberty Press books, this series is God-honoring as well. All grammar books cover pretty much the same material, so what stands out about this series? First of all, the biblical content. In addition, a student could learn a great deal of history just by reading the excerpts of various literary works used as examples. Each lesson begins with a clear explanation of a topic and gives examples to drive home the point. Tables are used to demonstrate concepts like person, tense, and voice. Exercises have an adequate but not excessive amount of practice for each skill. Later sections of the book focus on word usage and more advanced literary concepts. Students then use these skills in writing paragraphs, short stories or newspaper articles.

I like that this program teaches the parts of speech in conjunction with how those parts are used in a sentence. Programs that teach these concepts separately can cause confusion to some students.

LOVE THIS SERIES! We used it up to grade 9 for our boys I cannot say enough good things about this particular level These are tough courses so if your child is not strong in grammar use this a grade level behind the publishers suggestion When you are finished with this book your child will have a good tight grasp on grammar
