Curriculum list for school program
Jamie C on May 29, 2019
For years, our second grade classroom has been using a consumable map skills booklet for their geography curriculum. The booket was 24.00 each this past year and will no longer be purchased by our school. We are looking for alternative sources and it looks like this one might work. I will be sharing it with our other staff.

Beyond 2nd grade reading level.
While this book contains valuable map skills content, to me it seems to be way over second grade level both in content and reading level. I think a second grader could learn this material, but I think it would take significant parental help for the average second grader. There is nothing in particular wrong with that, but when I order a workbook, my intention with that is that it’s something they can do on their own without much help from me.

I'm pleased with this series
We recently started using the Grade 2 level. So far my daughter likes the workbook and asks to do extra pages. It's inexpensive and a small (47 page) paperback workbook. Daily lessons are easy to divide up as each individual page or two page spread is a single lesson. This is also an advantage for kids who are easily distracted or who would find it difficult to flip back and forth between pages to find the correct answer. The lessons have been easy for her to understand, age-appropriate and have often involved drawing, circling or other age appropriate activity. Each page is a map or other drawing, brief written lesson and questions to answer.
