Product Description:

What study of the states would be complete without a little coloring? Well, it's not really an essential, but it can reinforce the learning. Attractive blackline coloring pages are brimming with information about each of the 50 states, educating as they are colored. Which state is the Sunflower State? The Land of Opportunity? Which state's motto is "Ever Upward"? Informative captions provide each state's nickname, motto, flower, bird, tree, capital, principal rivers and mountains, notable attractions, and other special information.

Accurate outline drawings of each state are prominent, with a small inset map of the United States showing its location (by shading). Some details, like mountains, rivers, and lakes, appear on the state. The capital's location is starred, but no printed names appear - so you can have your children do a little research and mapwork for extra benefit. This also makes the book usable as a reproducible map source. Surrounding the state are other blackline figures of the state bird, flower, related plant and animal life, and other significant features (New York, for example, includes the Statue of Liberty). Now your students can color their way to U.S. geographic literacy!

I didn't want my 4 year old daughter to be left out while I work on our US Geography Curriculum with her brothers. Instead of buying her her own student booklet that she would just color in anyway, I decided to get a coloring book that is way more affordable!

Is there a map of the US so students can color in the states they have visited?
A shopper on Feb 29, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The United States Map (learning wall). It measures 48 in. by 72 in so you will need to clear some wall space for it. Very sturdy. I use a sharpie to name the states and markers to color in. Love it.
How is this different from ISBN 0486401685?
User on Aug 30, 2016
BEST ANSWER: Actually, these are the same book. The book has a 10 digit ISBN as well as a 13 digit ISBN.

Fun learning
My children enjoy using this book. By coloring the state map, bird, tree, and flower, they learn while having fun.

We use this book in conjunction with Scholastic's U.S.A book--for a reference for colors and information. Also, we read about and listen to each state's bird on Audubon.org.

Great book for 50 state study. Color while watching videos on the states.
We love this book. I bought two, one for each of my kids. Perfect for 50 state studies. My girls watch YouTube videos of state facts and travel pictures while coloring in them and they've really enjoyed it. Cute and perfect for what we needed. One state per page.
