Some kids need a little more reinforcement. I love the half books because they give just a tad bit more repetition of super important concepts. Lets build that tower of learning!

I felt my first grader needed a little more practice/reinforcement before continuing on to Book 4.

I am home schooling my youngest after 20+ years of home schooling, I have gone through the Explode the Code curriculum with each of them. It is a good measure how they are doing in reading and writing. The sentences and pictures are fun and a little silly so we smile throughout our day.
Bonnie K on Dec 6, 2017
we love explode the code! the kids think they are fun which means they don't complain when it's time to do the workbooks!

My son has Dyslexia and I was told these books would be good to help him learn how to read.
Julie D on Jun 6, 2017
We are going back and working on making sure we have a solid understanding of the basics. We've made it 1/2 way through the first 4 books in the series (ETC 1-4) and are working with a tutor who recommended going back to the beginning to really hammer in the concepts for a firm understanding and for confidence building.
Jenna W on Apr 26, 2017
It gives my children extra practice with spelling and reading at that level
Julie B on Feb 8, 2017
I like using the 1/2 books to reinforce the learning and add independence, because it's largely review she can complete the pages on her own with little help.

I just wanted a simple review over the holidays.

Fantastic series. One of the best I have found to teach systematic Phonics.
FrancesEve D on Sep 19, 2016
I have used it before. I like the price is low. My son already has many books, but he needs more practice in long vowel sounds. His current curriculum is wanting to move on, and he needs more time in this particular area.
Melanie B on Aug 19, 2016
Excellent phonics program. Can be used with initial teaching, for independent practice, as extra review for students needing reinforcement. Simple black and white layout eliminates busy, distracting pages.
Maria D on Jun 13, 2016
Have been using these books for quite some time.
