These cards highlight the beauty and dignity of black heritage as portrayed in paintings over a 500 year period. Artists include Henry Tanner, Wm H. Johnson, Aaron Douglas, Clementine Hunter, Horace Pippin, Jacob Lawrence and more. ~ Sara
Central to the Child-Size Masterpieces program, carefully explained in the How to Use Child-Size Masterpieces for Art Appreciation (A108), this companion book contains 36 postcard-size images of black people, some by black artists.
This supplemental set is designed to "highlight the beauty and dignity of the black heritage as portrayed in paintings" and has cards that can be used for matching identical paintings (Step 1), pairing two similar paintings by the same artist (Step 2), grouping paintings by the same artist (Step 3), and learning the names of artists (Step 4) of the Child-Size Masterpieces program.
18 different famous paintings are represented (two cards of each). Mix these paintings in with other cards for Steps 1, 2, 3, or 4.
Artists represented are: Lawrence, Tanner, Harnett, Chapin, Neel, Wood, Zechel, Johnson, Douglas, Hunter, Pippin, Gericault, Rembrandt, Borch, and Rebens.
Postcards are color-coded and printed on heavy varnished cardstock. To make cards, cut out the 4¾" x 6½" images, and laminate, if desired. Ages 3+.
