my kids love this
I am not much of an "arts and craft" person, so this gives a guide for some of the art type work. It also has a deeper level of academic activities, I am using it with my 3rd-6th graders, and it is working well.

A fun way to review.
We chose the junior notebook journal again this year although she is in 6th grade. She is only occasionally interested in the coloring pages, but it keeps her busy when it is Mom's turn to read. I also like the copy work. Since handwriting is a challenge for her, we decided to stay with the junior notebook to keep it simple and interesting and it is just the right amount of handwriting for her.

Fun and easy to incorporate along with older children
I would definitely recommend this product as it simplifies activities that "the older kids" get to do. Easy to follow, this journal allows a younger student to be a part of family studies but would also be fantastic on its own for a single student. The only downfall, according to my second grader, is that it only has one crossword puzzle in the whole book as compared to one each lesson for the regular journal.

Great time saver
Love the ease of this. Notebooking without a great time investment. Seems like it's a bit much so we just don't do all the pages. Overall if you have the cash to spare it's worth it.

I am using this with a Kindergartner and 2nd grader and love it I wondered if I should just buy a coloring book for my Kindergartner like I have for my 3 year old but am glad I bought this She is happy to try the copywork and is pleased with her efforts at drawing a skeleton or labeling etc There is a "personal person" project that includes transparent pages the student can cut out and layer on their skeleton My kids love it They especially love coloring the coloring pages while listening to the audio cds so I am going to buy more human body coloring books I am 100% satisfied

I chose the Junior Notebooking Journal because the Notebooking Journal was far to difficult for my Gr 3 child. The Junior Notebooking Journal should be labelled Gr. 2 -Gr. 5
The note booking journal should be labelled Gr 6 to Gr 9

My children enjoy using these journals. The Junior Notebook is perfect for a child who has not yet developed a good mastery of writing and spelling.

This is a great resource to focus our younger children on the material we are covering in each lesson. They enjoy the coloring pages as we listen through the chapter the first time. They love to create the mini-books included with each chapter. I know they are really understanding the material when our 4 year old starts teaching our older children about all the interesting things he has learned.

I try doing this with just a plain notebook and it just didn't work as well. My children like the notebooks and it is easy to keep track of things.

To follow along with the book. Usually I make my own notebook for the kids but wanted to save time this year.

I really appreciate the junior version of the science notebooks, they have coloring pages for when you're reading the lesson, and a lot less writing requirements in the journal pages, for my younger kids this is very helpful!

This notebook is the perfect supplement for my child to take notes and write about what is learned during our science lessons. It is very hands-on and not your typical fill-in-the-blank worksheet notebook. There are lots of fun activities and unique applications of what we have learned.

What age is this recommended for?
A shopper on Apr 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I think it would work well up to about 3rd grade. My daughter switched to the regular notebook at 3rd because she was an advanced reader and writer, but for one that is at level or struggling, this junior edition would be easier..... the main difference I noticed was this one has less lines for writing, and also the copywork scripture is printed, where the regular edition has the scripture copy verse in cursive
