What an eye-opening book about the struggle women went through to have the right to vote and have a voice in our country! The timeline starts with the beginning of our country all the way to 1920 when the nineteenth amendment was added to the U.S. Constitution. True equal voting rights took much longer to enact and this topic is also discussed. ~Amber
Publisher's Description of Women and the Right to Vote (True Book: Women's History)
Women are sometimes called the silent protagonists of history. But
since before the founding of our nation until now, women have
organized, marched and inspired. They forced change and created
opportunity.
With engaging text, fun facts, photography,
infographics, and art, this new set of books examines how individual
women of differing races and socioeconomic status took a stand, and how
groups of women lived and fought throughout the history of this country.
It looks at how they celebrated victories that included the right to
vote, the right to serve their country, and the right to equal
employment.
This
series of books looks at some unsung heroes of history – women. Women are
strong and have been a pillar to the building of our country. Learn about
different women in history, their story, and how their strength and courage
contributed to what we have today. In addition to the topic covered, each book
gives true statistics, resources for further reading, and a glossary of terms
