Description

Eliza wants to craft a robot; Theo needs wrist warmers for winter; Alex dreams of making an infinity scarf.  In this light resource-management, pattern-matching game, players use colorful yarns to complete requirements to create items such as teddy bears, scarves, and mittens.  But first, they must shop for the required yarn.

More Detail:

The Yarn Bazaar: The main board contains the yarn bazaar, which consists of the yarn deck and the project cards. The yarn deck cards provide different quantities and colors of yarns that can be used to create items and complete special request projects.  In this deck, there are also special request cards for specific crafted items, and event cards that give special actions and resources when revealed. Project cards are displayed under the yarn bazaar on the main board, and players turn in different types and quantities of crafted items to complete them.  Project cards also provide the opportunity for game-end points.

Resources: The resource area next to the main board provides six assorted colors of yarn that players can shop for, as well as the items that they create from yarn that form the basis for completing projects.

Player Boards: Each player has an individual board and character token. This is where they select between four different actions to take each turn without repeating the action they took the previous turn. Players can shop for yarn, create projects, and trade between yarn colors.  The fourth available action may be unique between player boards and might contain a combination of actions such as shopping for yarn and crafting an item.   Beneath the action selection area is the pattern area with yarn requirements to create hats, bears, mittens, scarves, and blankets.  These items can earn game-end points or be used to complete projects displayed on the main board, which also provide points.  Every player also has a bowl to collect the yarn they shop for, which can be used to craft items and complete projects.

Game Play:   Players take turns performing one action per turn and then restocking the yarn bazaar. They may also complete projects if desired. The game ends when the project deck is empty and there are less than three cards available in the display.  Players collect points for crafted items and completed projects, and the person with the most points wins!  This game is a nice introduction to a few mechanics that are also used in more complex games.  It has enough variety of actions and decisions to engage a wide age range too! For 2-4 players with a 30–45-minute game time.
