I taught this program and just can't locate my set of phonogram cards. I'm wanting to help my 6-year-old with reading.

This is a great reading program--simple and non-consumable. I used it with my five that I homeschooled, am getting these cards for my grandkids, one of whom is public schooled and the others are homeschooled and using different programs but still need some work on the basics. The cards are plain, but you can still play games and such with them so that learning them is more fun. The kids need to know these well so they don't get bogged down when trying to read in a book.

I previously purchased the Romalda Spalding flashcards and am finding that some of the phonograms do not have all the sounds included. For example, the phonogram 'x' is only given the sound 'ks' as in excellent, whereas I believe this phonogram set (Bonnie's) includes the sound 'gz' for x, as in 'example' or 'exertion'. I learned to read with Bonnie Dettmer's materials, and in retrospect I believe she does a more thorough job of covering all sounds in the English language the way we use them.
