Great Science Text
I really like Apologia science! I like how they focus on facts and not theories aka Charles Darwin. However, the text is advanced and can be dry to read to younger children. The notebook that accompanies this text is a must! Hands and colorful!

Love it so far
I just purchased this curriculum last month and so far my 7 and 4 year old daughters like it. I love how the textbook makes it interesting and gives activities for the kids to do with each lesson. I also love the junior notebook to go with the textbook. It keeps my 7 year old engaged.

Fantastic way to teach your child about space and, specifically, about our solar system.
We loved this course! We bought the accompanying student notebook and did every experiment the text suggested. My son (age seven) learned so much about our solar system. The pages are beautiful and the lessons are really well-written. I highly recommend this one!

Great updated edition!
The updated edition is excellent! We are loving this program with three of our boys. Having the notebooks, big science kit, and the audio make it open n go. The pictures are amazing! High quality book. Absolutely recommend this to others.

Very well written
We really like this Astronomy book, it is very well done and talks about all the important matters in a godly way that need to be addressed at a school level. My husband also really likes the recap questions of each chapter, this way he knows what to ask of my son at the end of the day when he returns from work, knowing what he has covered during the day.

It was shiny and looked pretty. Just kidding. We wanted to have the latest version of the textbook, not the older version. Hubby loves astronomy and wanted this resource to aid our daughter's home instruction.

I love the anatomy book we used this year and botany last year.

Really excited to use this alongside the journals. My kids LOVE science and learning about the world God has created. They're super excited to learn all about space this year. I have looked at a friends copy of this and love the way that the book is written to kids and sounds exciting to them.

We have the 1st edition, but I haven't been able to find the notebook that goes with it. So I have to get the newest edition text to get the notebook.

I just finished one semester with this textbook (and the junior notebooking journal) for my 3rd and 4th graders. We loved it! The chapters are colorful, interesting, and well-written. We were using this for our co-op, so we would read the chapter and do the work at home, and they would turn in their assignments to their 'teacher.' She would do one of the crafts or experiments with them (like using magnifying glasses to refract the sun, making a compass, or making planets out of play-dough/foam).

We use a classical approach to homeschooling. Recent, unexpected events have caused us to look at a curriculum that is laid out for us instead of us creating our own. I chose this item based on reviews, content, and lay out. I'm hoping it will prove to be exactly what we need.

Is this Catholic or Protestant?
User on Jun 21, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure that astronomy per se can be either, but insofar as nothing in the text references anything in the Apocrypha, Protestant.
can you use the second edition journalist notebook with the first edition text? I have the first edition text but only the 2nd edition notebooks are available now.
A shopper on Mar 20, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Per the publisher, it's not possible to use 2nd edition material with 1st edition text. I'm sorry. There were numerous changes in the 2nd edition.
Do you absolutely need to purchase the lab kit or are the items needed for experiments easily found in the store?

Exploring Creation with Astronomy Junior Notebooking Journal (2nd edition)
BEST ANSWER: You can certainly accumulate the items from things around the house or from local stores. The items are not hard to locate. I did find it very helpful for our family, that our son could simply go to the lab kit, pull out the pre-packaged accessories for that lesson, and proceed with the experiment without my needing to gather items from around the house. It is incredibly convenient to have the work done for you, but it is not a necessity. If you choose not to purchase the kit, I would encourage you to take the time to assemble the needed items at the beginning of the year so that the experiments don't sneak up on you and catch you unprepared!
