Latin Road is a wonderful curriculum for learning the nuts and bolts of grammar while establishing concepts within the context of a foreign language The teacher's manual pronounciation CD and DVD are quite helpful making it easy for me to prepare lessons and present it to three children (14 16 and 17) While it's a struggle for my hands-on son (16) the visual aids and vocabulary cards are of great assistance in helping the children learn the various concepts and words However sometimes it's just plain necessary to memorize things and memorization never hurt anyone's mental skills This compares nicely with Wheelock's Latin although the material is presented differently Wheelock's Latin would be a nice supplementary item to go with The Latin Road The Latin Road to English Grammar is well worth the price paid (student book teacher's aids etc) and gives good valueWe are nearly done with Volume II (we began learning Latin during the 2005-2006 school year and it's possible to do Volumes I and II in one year) The Latin Road to English Grammar has been useful to my teenagers While I haven't seen great improvement in spelling (I've two boys and two girls all between 17-12) in the older two they reported that their Latin classes were a help when they took the military ASVAB this fall The vocabulary section had words that they could figure out based on their Latin vocabulary It usually takes me 15-20 minutes to work on half a chapter but as I generally do a chapter ahead of the children (the three oldest) at one time I can spend an hour working on vocabulary concepts or exercises I go ahead and do the exercises or worksheets with the children as they get to them which just reinforces my knowledge I guess it's somewhat unfair that I devote time to just one subject (their dad teaches them math and they're able to do the other subjects pretty much on their own) but I've enjoyed learning where our words come from while studying Latin The Latin Road will make a good spring board into learning other foreign languages

BEST ANSWER: I am quite sure the DVD's are sold separately. I have not used the DVD's but a friend has told me they are very useful. This friend also told me the author of the series is very approachable and helpful if you reach out to her with questions about her program.
Which pronunciation is used with The Latin Road?
Kelly O on Jul 4, 2016
BEST ANSWER: On page 4 of the textbook it says. "There are two traditions of the spoken Latin language: Classical Latin pronunciation (Germanic) and Church Latin pronunciation (Italian). You will learn the Church Latin pronunciation because it is the only pronunciation you will hear today (in church liturgies and classical music texts.) And this pronunciation is closest to the sounds of English."
