Description

Some divers are deep in the ocean when they hear a loud crash on the surface on the water. They make their way to the surface in a submarine to find that a garbage boat and an oil boat have collided, resulting in a large oil and garbage spill. They see a group of puffins in distress, so they morph into puffins to be able to understand them better and learn what is bothering them. They rescue the puffins and clean them up before releasing them back into the ocean. This story helps teach young ones about how important it is to stop and check on others when you can see they are in distress, and then to help them get to a better place if you can. This text also emphasizes that after you have helped someone, it is important to make changes that could prevent another person from experiencing that situation in the future. The project involves creating an oil spill in a small dish and trying to clean the oil gunk off of feathers. Another project involves creating a garbage grabber to pick up and sort recyclable garbage into three different categories. Includes the materials needed for the projects. The book is 28 pages, pb.
