geography fun
My daughter loves all things geography. The game itself is pretty basic but it does give the chance to go through a lot of information. There is quite a bit of variation in the questions and even my geography info fact hound learned a lot of new information.

More than the Basics
What I liked most about the game was that it wasn't just a location game, how to get from here to there. It had questions about cities and flags and such. It is not a short game, but not overly long either.

I first bought this set in 1983 My kids were 4 and 2 I started teaching my 4 year girl and my 2 1/2 yr old was right there watching He started to pick up what I was teaching my 4 yr old so I started teaching him too I took both of my kids through the whole set I liked how the lower case sounds were taught first I did not teach the alphabet letters Knowing the alphabet letters does NOT teach kids to read I only mentioned the name of the letter when I first introduced the new sound I then taught my next child with this set when he was 4 yrs old Now I am about to teach my two grandkids to read ages 4 & 3 I will give them the readiness test this week I am pretty sure they will both be ready I have never seen this set again until now I did use and will again use other materials to reinforce what they are learning to correspond with the sounds we are working on It is so hard to find reading programs that do not start with alphabet and capital letters!!! I also really liked the cards with the vinyl lowercase letters to traceThis is a good product and well worth it Sometimes older products are the best I have been teaching kids for about 26 years and always looking for good materials to teach with

I felt this program might be okay for the older age range but not for the younger My son already knew his letters and their sounds so that part was unnecessary for him The next step was to immediately jump into reading There was nothing to show how to work on phonemic awareness which was something he still needed
