Publisher's Description of Classical Kids Christmas CD
Celebrate Christmas with award-winning Classical Kids producer Susan Hammond (Beethoven Lives Upstairs, Mozart's Magic Fantasy) in this holiday collection the whole family will enjoy.

Classical carols and classic poetry combine to tell the story of Christmas, just like the pageants of days gone by. Follow the Three Wise Men as they set out for Bethlehem; meet Saint Nicholas (no, not Santa Claus!); experience the traditions of Christmas around the world. It's a magical Christmas eve, the celebration of Christmas Day and rejoicing of animals at the manger. Everyone will enjoy the story of why the stork delivers babies, how the robin got its red breast and how tinsel came to decorate our trees.

Features more than 30 traditional carols and holiday songs.

Category Description for Classical Kids

Each audio is a unique combination of music, history and dramatic story-telling, designed to both introduce children to the composers and their music. Each story includes at least one child interacting with the composer, helping the younger set to identify with a character and get a better feel for the historical time period. Trials and triumphs of the great composers are experienced. Stories are based on historical fact. Unlike the Music Masters series, which uses a narrator between musical excerpts to tell you about the composer's life, these tapes use actors and dramatization to bring the story alive. Each composer's music is featured throughout the tape, giving children a taste of their best-loved pieces. All have won Parents' choice awards and other musical awards.

Teacher Notes include additional background information, discussion topics, activity ideas and suggestions for exploring the music.

Category Description for Classical Kids Christmas

As a member of a large, musically-oriented family, I have fond memories of my siblings and I singing along with Christmas music as we finished last-minute holiday preparations. So, you can imagine how delighted I was when I discovered that the award-winning producer of the Classical Kids series has created an album of Christmas music and poetry! This collection of traditional carols and holiday songs features exquisite children's choirs, soloists, and instrumentalists. Among the songs included are Silent Night, O Come, All Ye Faithful, We Three Kings, O Holy Night, Go Tell It on the Mountain, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, Christmas Eve is Here, Tchaikovsky's Nutcracker Suite, Away in a Manger, Polish Lullaby, Angels We Have Heard on High, This Great Day, Joseph Dearest, O Tannenbaum, Vivaldi's Winter, The Friendly Beasts, Here We Come Awassailing, and more.

These classical carols combine with seasonal poetry, including T'was the Night Before Christmas, Huron Carol, Longfellow's Christmas Carol, and Hardy's The Oxen. Meet St. Nicholas, and follow the Three Wise Men as they journey to Bethlehem. Experience a magical Christmas Eve, the celebration of Christmas Day, and the rejoicing of the animals at the manger. With over 45 minutes of listening pleasure, this album is the perfect addition to your holiday celebration. ~ Rachel
