Ten LightUnit workbooks provide 170 lessons, including quizzes and tests. Lessons cover grammar, language mechanics, sentence diagramming, and spelling. At least two writing lessons are included in each LightUnit. Students write a research paper in LightUnit 707.

Each LightUnit (except 707) includes two quizzes and a test that should be removed from the LightUnit before the student begins working in it. The quizzes are perforated sheets in the back of the LightUnit, and the test is stapled in the center of the LightUnit.

Category Description for Grade 7 (Sunrise 2nd Ed.)

The Sunrise 2nd Edition Grade 7 Language Arts course is thorough and economical! Students work through a series of 10 workbooks (called LightUnits), weaving together grammar, spelling, composition, and penmanship. Each workbook includes 17 lessons (now in color), two quizzes, and a test, which are designed for independent work with a low level of teacher involvement. Students study verb voice, subordination of ideas in sentences, verbals, adjective clauses, adverb clauses, several forms of writing, and more.  Although workbook instruction is written to the student, two optional Teacher Guides (broken up by units: 701-705 and 706-710) provide detailed instruction for teaching, reduced student pages with lesson answers, quiz and test answers, additional spelling lists, and alternative tests. For those using this course more independently, there is a separate Lesson Answer Key for LightUnits 701-710 and a Quiz & Test Answer Key, which are not required if using the Teacher Guides. Extra Practice Sheets provide additional review for those who need it. This CLE Language Arts course pairs perfectly with the CLE Grade 7 Reading Program for a comprehensive ELA course.
