Modesty Matters Sewing DVDs

So your daughter wants to make a costume for Liberty Day. Or a dress for her doll. But you're just not sure about how to do it properly - or maybe you have no idea whatsoever on how to go about it. These DVDs are the answer - and you may even want to look into the Home Economics: You Can Sew! course from the same publisher. In fact, these DVDs assume you (or your student) know the basics of sewing so the You CAN Sew! course would be a good idea if you're a complete beginner. This is the perfect way to get experience in sewing - not to mention a very special project your student will be proud to have completed. First of all, the patterns are provided right on the DVD. They're pdfs so you'll have to print and tape them together but they're so much simpler looking than most patterns. Second, there is a full set of instructions that you can either read from your computer or print from the pdf files. Third, there's a video that shows you step-by-step exactly what to do. What could be simpler? The Doll Dress DVD includes patterns and instructions for a classic A-line dress, a high-waisted "everyday" dress and a set of bloomers (just what every well-dressed doll needs). These are sized to fit the popular 18" dolls (you know, the ones with the girls names from various American time periods). [The classic A-line dress is the same dress that is made child-size as a final project for the You CAN Sew! course.] The Colonial Dress DVD provides the pattern, instructions and video example for a life-sized period costume - child sizes (2T-XS-S-M-L-XL) - up to pre-teen. You'll need Adobe Reader v.9 but both the DVDs and the CD-ROMs will run on both Macs and PCs. ~ Janice
