Turn the starter squiggle into a bunny rabbit, or is it an airplane? Maybe a face, or even a chair? Open-ended starters that a child has to finish is a way to encourage creativity (even in the non-artist). Use one as a daily warm up for the academic day or take the book on a road trip for a quiet and relaxing activity.
