Four Freedoms Series

"In future days, which we seek to make secure, we look forward to a world founded upon four essential human freedoms." -and so begins Franklin Delano Roosevelt's address to Congress, January 6, 1941. FDR passionately presented his case that America's allies needed support in their battle against Germany and Italy. More than ally support, FDR felt the European war was a battle for the four key American freedoms that are rights guaranteed to all people. Engagingly written, this series explains each of these freedoms, focusing on why each right is vital to us today, and looks at the challenges each freedom faces around the world. At the conclusion are inspirations for young people to support and defend these freedoms, respectfully. Excellent introduction to civics and government for our upper elementary children. Glossary, index and additional resources are included. 31 pgs, SC.~ Deanne
