Description

The Maldita Diamond is a legend in the Village of Shineystone.  Belonging to the recently deceased Benjamin Bauble the world-renowned gem collector, it was the crowning jewel of his collection, but it also carries a curse upon those who dare to touch it.  Gather the family and search for the numerous gems hidden in Mr. Bauble’s house as he has bequeathed them to all inhabitants of Shineystone. but be sure to heed his warning about touching the cursed Maldita Diamond!

This is a fast-paced 20-minute race game that challenges geometry and shape recognition skills for ages 8 to adult.  The goal is to match challenge cards that show different colors, shapes and patterns with the many gems that are available in the center of the table among which sits the famous Maldita Diamond.  Based on player count, each person starts with the same number of these cards with randomized point values and color and pattern-matching challenges.  The goal of the game is to complete as many challenge cards as possible with the highest number of points to win the game.

As the game begins, players all flip over their first challenge card and search for a match among the gems.  Next, they place the gem on the card and flip over their next card.  The first player that matches all their cards grabs the Maldita Diamond to end the round.  Everyone’s cards are checked for errors.  All successfully matched cards are kept in a stack next to each player.  Incorrectly matched cards are discarded and uncompleted cards are placed in a stack in the center of the table underneath the Maldita Diamond.  The player that is the first to finish the next round claims these uncompleted cards which are added to their earned card stack.

Before beginning the next round, the player holding the diamond randomly receives a curse card that they must use during the upcoming round.  Some examples of these are to take an additional Challenge Card the next round or to move gems onto their cards using only their pinkie finger.  Clearly, this helps level the playing field!  Then, the next round proceeds as the last. When the last Curse Card is drawn, game-end triggers, and the final round starts.  Players count all of their Challenge Card points and the player with the most points wins!
