If you want to read any of the nine tales (Prologue, Knight's Tale, Miller, Wife of Bath, Merchant, Franklin's Tale, Pardoner, Prioress, and Nun's Priest's Tale) in the old English style, the introduction is a guide explaining Chaucer's language, the vowel sounds, spelling consonants, grammar, vocabulary and the like.
