Category Description for BJU Press Grade 9 - Cultural Geography:

Through a theme that places the student in the role of world traveler, geographic principles and every country of the world are studied. As students "travel" from region to region they’ll study cultures, land forms, climates, natural resources, economy, religions, and governments. Some topics will overlap with concepts introduced in Earth Science. Examines the geography of the world with a strong Biblical basis and Scriptural emphasis. Please note that due to a few errors in the 3rd and 4th editions, Bob Jones is maintaining an errata sheet for this course on their website. These sheets can be found at, click the ‘more’ button on the toolbar, then textbook resources. You will also find Lesson Plan Overviews and additional resources.

Category Description for BJU Press Heritage Studies:

This complete social studies curriculum assumes a strong Christian worldview that is meaningful and relevant in today’s world. It reflects a conservative evangelical perspective and would be a good choice for many Christians because of its Godly perspective. Heritage Studies uses a narrative approach making the books more interesting and provides a look at how God has interacted with human events to establish His kingdom, and give students an opportunity to study historical figures and events through the lens of God’s Word. In addition to the historical aspect of Heritage Studies, students are invited to evaluate concepts, cultural values, economic issues, and government systems using Scripture. By teaching the past, students become aware of the present and are better able to understand and think critically about issues they will face. Heritage Studies strives to present a balanced view of history and challenges students to think for themselves.

Many of the texts have been updated and revised in recent years. Student Texts are colorful and non-consumable. Teacher Editions are full of resources (these will vary between editions), and usually include reduced student pages, teaching tips, background and supplemental information, and answer keys. Newer editions also include a Toolkit CD, which includes maps, visuals, instructional aids, Activity Manual Answer Keys (in some cases), and more. Activity Manuals include full-color pages to review and enrich lessons. Activity Manual Answer Keys are student activity manual pages with answers filled in – in some cases the Activity Manual answers are found in the teacher edition for that level.  Tests are non-reproducible and come in a packet with one test per chapter; Tests Answer Keys are student tests with the answers filled in. A Visuals Packet is available for grade 1 (optional) and includes a timeline, maps, pictures, interactive figures, and full-color charts. Home School Kits include the required materials for teaching Heritage Studies at each grade level, and usually includes a Student Text, Teacher Edition, Activity Manual, Activity Manual Answer Key (where needed), Tests, and Tests Answer Keys.

Did anyone else make a 4-day schedule? If so, how long did it take your student to complete the textbook + tests on a daily basis?
