Kid's Guide to the Armor of God
Spiritual warfare is a tough conversation to start having with kids. The tone of this book is one that is engaging and, for the subject matter, lighthearted. Tony has a way of speaking to young kids about big Christian studies. Each chapter is dedicated to an item of armor and how to utilize it against Satan and stand firm. Throughout the chapters there are spiritual formation reflection questions and at the end of each chapter are review questions covering what readers just learned. This is but one book in a series of titles designed to help children develop spiritual foundations. To view full scriptural verse references, having a Bible while reading would be helpful. 105 pgs, pb. ~Rebecca
As one of the country's most respected evangelical leaders, pastor and author Tony Evans challenges "tweens" (ages 8 to 12) to explore what the armor of God is all about. He understands that Christian kids want to be stronger, more confident, and skilled at living an exciting God-centered life, and so he presents the unvarnished truth.
Tony Evans gives kids a plan for success by explaining:
* Scripture reveals who's behind the world's traps and snares and how to resist him.
* God offers all Christians a powerful suit of armor and mighty weapons.
* The suit includes a belt of truth and helmet of salvation to wear and shield of faith to carry into the battle. When every piece of God's armor is worn correctly, the enemy is defeated and Christians finish victorious.
By learning how to dress in the armor God provides, preteens are able to speak the truth, stand firm in the faith, and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.
These non-reproducible Kids' Guide to… books make a wonderful addition to a young students Bible learning study. Having their own Bible would be very helpful for students in reading through these resource books as they need to look up scriptures and find Bible stories. These books provide information about key Christian concepts through the process of self-reflection. Space is provided within the book for students to write. Having a separate journal would be nice as space is limited for writing within the book. Chapters are 15-20 pages long and have discussion/reflection questions throughout each chapter. These books will promote children's personal and spiritual development, as they study the Bible and foundational Christian principles. ~Rebecca
