Traditional
Teacher-centered curriculum commonly used in classrooms that may include a text, teacher manual, tests, etc.
Charlotte Mason
A methodology based on the work of a 19th century educator who maintained that children learn best from literature (Living Books), not textbooks.
Classical
A methodology based on the Latin Trivium (three stages of learning), including the grammar stage (memorization and facts), logic stage (critical thinking), and rhetoric stage (developing/defending ideas).
Unit Study
A thematic or topical approach centered around one topic that integrates multiple subject areas.
Montessori (Discovery)
A methodology based on the work of a 20th century educator that emphasizes student and sensory-driven discovery learning and real-life applications.

Publisher's Description of Summit Math Algebra 2 Book 6: Linear & Nonlinear Systems of Equations (2nd Edition)
In this book, students review what they learned about solving systems of linear equations in the Algebra 1 course. They will use the strategies of substitution and elimination to solve word problems that involve systems of linear equations. Linear inequalities are also included in this book. Students will then apply what they have learned about factoring as they solve nonlinear systems of equations. They will also learn how to solve 3-variable systems of equations and then use this skill to find the equation of a parabola when they know 3 points on the parabola. This book builds on Algebra 1: Books 5 and 6 and Algebra 2: Book 3.
Topics in this book:
Review graphing systems, substitution, and elimination
Scenarios involving linear systems
Systems of linear inequalities
Nonlinear systems
Systems with 3 variables
Writing the equation for a parabola, given 3 points
If you are searching for an independent algebra program or a supplement to teach specific algebra concepts, this program is worth your consideration. Summit Math uses the guided discovery method, where students actively engage in a step-by-step process of truly understanding math while learning to solve and master each scenario before moving on to another.
The first half of the book uses scenarios to show students the process of constructing and solving each problem so they can make their own connections, while the latter half uses extra practice sheets to improve understanding of the topics. Each section has an answer key for immediate feedback. A placement test and pacing guide are provided for Algebra 1 and 2. If students feel that they need extra instruction, a video subscription can be purchased for these levels directly from the publisher. A new Advanced Algebra with Trigonometry set includes six books that have two units each. The videos and placement test for this course will come later this year.
