Meaningful Mini-Lessons & Practice: Language Grade 5
- Demonstrating an understanding that some words have nonliteral meaning, shades of meaning, and relationships to other words
- Using punctuation such as commas, parentheses, and dashes to set off nonrestrictive and parenthetical elements
- Using context clues to determine the meaning of a word or phrase
In this series, mini lessons give targeted instruction in language by breaking them down into manageable chunks in a structured format. Language lessons focus on grammar usage and vocabulary practice. Each standards-based lesson gives step-by-step instructions (which should take about 10-15 minutes). The lessons are followed by guided practice pages with instructional support and independent practice pages to reinforce each concept. An answer key and assessments are included in the back. If you are looking for a resource to teach standard-based language, this series provides purposeful mini lessons and guided practice to build your student’s competency in these areas of language arts.
These materials are also comprehensive in scope but are supplemental as opposed to more complete programs.
