Product Description:

Taking a gentle developmental approach to learning, this open-and-go curriculum by Master Books focuses on 4 areas: Bible, Rhyme Time, Life Skills, and ABC’s (learning the alphabet and basic reading skills). Scripted lessons are organized around a three day per week schedule. Names, sounds, and the formation of letters are taught, and activity pages include one line each day for handwriting practice. Other activities for the day might include making a mini alphabet book (included in the back), coloring, tracing, Bible and poetry reading, learning a life skill, and much more. Math Lessons for a Living Education (or another math curriculum) would pair nicely with this resource to make it a complete curriculum (not including science or social studies). An eager preschool student would also do well with this program; however, the lessons might have to be spread out between 2 days (depending on attention span). The pages are perforated and three-hole punched and reproducible for homeschool use only. Using a simple and fun approach with a Biblical focus, this is an easy-to-use and engaging curriculum promoting activity-based learning for your young ones. ~ Donna

Publisher Description:

Too often, our littlest learners are expected to achieve, despite not having reached critical levels of readiness. It is so important that they are taught with an approach that assesses and addresses their stage of development. This course includes helpful tips, games, a biblical focus on lessons from God's Word and how we can live for Him, ideas for extended learning, and activities, all based on skills developed through play and interaction.

There are 4 areas of focus in each lesson:

  • Bible: Biblical stories, character teachings & memory verses with motions
  • Rhyme Time: Fun poetry, vocabulary words & letter recognition
  • Life Skills: Weather, emotions, safety/emergencies, hygiene & more
  • ABC's and More: The Alphabet, learning to write letters & basic reading

A schedule is provided highlighting the instruction for this 3-day-a-week course. A master supply list is also included. The prep page at the beginning of each week provides the lesson's focus at a glance.

Simply K is the Simply the Best
I love the gentle approach of this program. Lessons are just long enough to keep my very active almost 6 year old’s attention span. It includes Bible stories, memory verses, character building, rhymes, life skills, letter formation and learning the abc’s all in 3 fun filled lessons a week. It is an open and go program with a predictable sequence every day, but activities are not repetitive. Younger siblings can easily join in the lessons. We enjoy this program a lot and I highly recommend it if your child doesn’t know the letter names yet. Be sure to watch the videos where the author explains how to use the program.

Gentle approach for kindergarten
Gentle approach for K grade for those who prefers gentle approach. I really like it for my K son. I want him to love school and it’s perfect enough for him to learn valuable skills and not to get overwhelmed along the way. It teaches kids some essential life skills such as emotions and how to deal with them, what to do during emergencies, how to tie shoes, helping in the kitchen, sewing on buttons and more. It also has Bible time to teach children from the Bible and some great practical lessons how to apply it daily, character building and memory verse for each week. It also has rhyme time and provides a new rhyme every week. It uses poems for students to find letters of the week and highlight them. It also introduces a new letter each week to trace and read words starting with it in provides mini books. Overall, it Includes valuable lessons and gentle enough for a young child to enjoy his or her studies.

I love this curriculum. I feel it covers all of the bases, is not repetitive and it's like your child going to a kindergarten classroom (but it's just him and Mom). He is not missing out on anything doing Kindergarten at home. Plenty of time left in the day to play after doing SImply K and Math Lessons for a Living Education Level K.
