Circe Guide to Reading
The human mind asks questions in layers, seeking certain kinds of information; first layer (who, where, when), second (what the who is doing) and third (how these are related). Based on this premise, the Circe Guide to Reading provides tools for purposeful reading, encouraging the reader to participate in a dialogue with the written text. Divided into sections of scanning, reading, and review, each section leads the student through techniques for interacting with the text. Highlighting is suggested but is far from random with each color having a specific purpose (pink/green scans; yellow/blue/orange reads). Appendices include notes on adapting the skills to younger students, making margin notes, and re-reading a highlighted book. A lot of practical training is packed into a small package. 6x 9 127 pgs, spiral-bound, ~ Janice
