These 1 1/4" foam letters have multiple uses and come with 7 suggested ideas - practice forming sight words; play letter scramble on the fridge. Consonants are blue (41); vowels are red (13); and y is purple. I really appreciate that the letter's entire back is magnetic; no little magnets to flick off and become unusable! ~ Ruth

We had two sizes, these and a larger set, and surprisingly my children prefer to play with this set. It also fits more nicely onto their personal magnetic white boards.

I spent a lot of time looking for affordable lowercase magnetic letters to give my students for use during remote learning next year, and was so excited to find these! It is important that they are all lowercase, as this is how most words appear in books, and it is essential that the vowels and consonants are color coded to promote recognition of spelling patterns. I love that the set includes duplicates of letters (rather than just the 26).

I am using these with my 2, 4 and 9 yr old for spelling and phonics. We will use them a the white board as well when we play games.

my daughter is learning to read, but does not have the fine motor or correct pencil grip to do a lot of writing so we are going to do our phonics work with these....and ill let my 3rd grader use them for spelling words sometimes to mix it up and break the monotony of spelling list practice.

What do the lowercase 'a' and 'g' look like? Are they shaped like you would learn during handwriting?
A shopper on Nov 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, they are shaped like the letters used for handwriting. The lowercase "a" looks like a ball with the straight stick, NOT like this "a". The letter "g" looks like this g.
How many of each letter are included in the set?
A shopper on May 16, 2016
BEST ANSWER: a (3), b (2), c (2), d (2), e (3), f (2), g (2), h (3), i (2), j (2), k (2), l (2), m (2), n (3), o (3), p (2), q (2), r (3), s (3), t (3), u (2), v (1), w (1), x (1), y (1), and z (1)
