Product Description:

An excellent supplement for hands-on learners, this CD-ROM containing printable PDF files will bring a fresh enthusiasm to your history studies. The Guide Book Text introduces the "travel" itinerary, including tips and a planner so you can prepare ahead of time for the 25 lessons (called Stops). Each Stop includes fact filled, engaging readings which are created to be all you need for a compact or supplementary study. Several of the 'stops' also offer more than one project allowing you and your children options along the way. While some of the projects will require students to research further, others have all the necessary information provided.

Activities vary and include creative writing, recipes, mapping activities, timelines, games, notebook activities, crafts, and lapbooks. Masters, detailed instructions, illustrations, and photos of finished products are all included to fully equip the parent for a successful hands-on history experience. An additional resource section offers a variety of books, videos, music ideas, bibliography of nonfiction books and websites, and research projects to accompany the projects if parents/students want to become further immersed into the Middle Ages! Reproducible for immediate family use only. ~Deanne

My daughter needs more hands on and engaging history lessons that a textbook just can't offer. We're excited about this option.

I have used previous Project Passport unit studies and they have all been super fun for my kids. They add an element of hands on to our studies.

I am preparing for a study of the Middle Ages using living books and wanted something to supplement our reading. My daughter loves hands on projects and crafts.

Absolutely love Home School in the Woods products. Lots of information, suggested reading lists, and all sorts of hands on activities to enhance learning.

This unit has lots of great activity ideas...some paper and pencil....some hands-on. I thought having students write newspaper articles/create illustrations as a wonderful way to review. We incorporated it with the literature book A Door in the Wall as well as the curriculum Mystery of History Vol 2. My daughter was a 5th grader and seemed to enjoy the content and learned a lot.

I have been looking for history curriculum for my nine year old son that has a somewhat hands on approach. With lap booking, I don't have to feel that I am constantly looking for places to store his hands on creations. I am excited because this also has an audio drama component that is included which my auditory learner will love.

Is there a download option instead of the CDROM?
A shopper on Nov 30, 2022
BEST ANSWER: We do not have a download. I checked the publisher's website and there was not a download option there either.
Are there reading book lists?
desiree f on Apr 6, 2017
BEST ANSWER: There is a very complete Resources list that includes fiction, non-fiction, and audio books.
are there any maps?
A shopper on Mar 21, 2017
BEST ANSWER: I only remember one. It could be used many times for different applications. You do not really need lots of different maps for the content of middle ages.

Very impressed!
I've homeschooled my children for 14 years and used everything almost under the sun. Lots of lapbooking, notebooking, unit studies, copywork, traditional workbooks and textbooks. Lots of kids to try stuff out on over the years.

My plan was to use this as part of our Middle Ages studies this year for my 6th and 7th grade students.
When I received it and really started digging around in it, I was VERY IMPRESSED. It was much more in depth and had a great deal more quality printables than I thought it would have.
As a result, I have switched my plans and now I am using this as my spine for the year along with Dorothy Mills Middle Ages and then some nice living books along the way.
I am really excited!

You do have to print off scads of stuff, but it's totally worth the ink and paper. I used some color paper and also some cardstock for some of it.
The passports and postcards are my favorite thing so far. I made them ahead of time for my kids to use, fill in and color, but everything else my kids will complete from start to finish.

Really wish I had found this product series many years ago. It's really good.

I bought this as a supplement to our study of the Middle Ages I was VERY impressed It could work as a complete history study for the year as there is THAT much content/lesson This actually had more content than our History book on many of the topics The projects were very fun My 9 yr old enjoyed them Some weeks the Newspaper timeline and projects were a lot with our schedule However we just skipped them or came back to them later on The Audio tracks that came with them were our fav part They were very engaging The printing proved tricky on my machine until I figured our that I could click on the folder and go to the folder to select individual files to print This was easier than waiting for each page to load to print ONE sheet when I needed 10 sheets that day We loved it so much that I am buying "Great Empires" this year by the same company I hope they make more It really brought it all alive for us Our end of the Year lap book turned out AWESOME!
