Designed for ages 4-6, Level 1 is a full year of visual art instruction. Students will build and develop a foundation of skills by learning and working through the essential elements and principles of art including: line, color, space, shape, texture, pattern, and balance. Level 1 also includes art-history, media exploration, creative self-expression, cultural appreciation, and much more.
Included with the family package is the Level 1 Online Great Art Appreciation Program (10 Great Masters Art Images and Discussion Guides).
The first thing you notice about Atelier is that it is video-based, which is the next best thing to having an art teacher come into your home! Each level contains 20 streamed, Online Lessons (Modules) and a Parent/Teacher Manual that you can download and print. Actual materials used are specified for each lesson, so you don't have to guess about what size paper to use or which colors of paint you'll need. The art concepts and related projects are introduced by the art teacher, often followed by a short "warm-up" which gives the student a little experience using the chosen medium and lets them focus on a simple exercise. The art project is then introduced and discussed. Students see the progression of the project in the video, as the art teacher demonstrates parts of it and children in a classroom work on it. Each lesson features examples of completed works from other students at that age level, which is encouraging and inspiring; you want to pick up your own paintbrush and get started right away!
There are two versions of the online programs, Complete and Enriched.Complete includes everything that was previously included in the DVD curriculum: videos and the teacher manual. Online Enriched also includes the Great Masters Virtual Museum, an art appreciation and art history supplement. This virtual museum contains 90 artworks along with discussion guides for each artwork. Online access is for three years from time of course activation.
Please note that this is not an immediate download. Following purchase, you will receive access information for the online course in 1-2 business days.
