Product Description:

You have questions; he has answers. Art Reed, who worked for nine years advising and answering parents' questions for Saxon Publishers, has written an entire book to help you navigate the Saxon Ocean. Not only does he include the most frequently asked questions, but has separate sections tailored to every level of the curriculum from grades 4-12 (he does not address the primary levels in this book). He discusses everything from the changes between editions to which levels you can skip to student placement and what type of calculator is best to use, including the underlying philosophy and recommended implementation of the Saxon program. If you use the Saxon math program or are considering it an option, the advice here could save you both time and money.

Category Description for Saxon Math:

Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed.

The most popular homeschooling math program hands down! Highly recommended by both Mary Pride and Cathy Duffy, Saxon Math also wins our award for the "Most Requested Text." Saxon math is a "user-friendly" math program - even for Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and other usually difficult math topics. Learning is incremental and each new concept is continuously reviewed, so the learning has time to "sink in" instead of being forgotten when the next topic is presented. Higher scores on standardized tests and increased enrollments in upper-level math and science classes have resulted where Saxon has been used in public schools. Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed. Because of the format, children are able to work more independently.

This book has been very helpful. We used it when transferring to Saxon math books from a different set of math books. Also, it has been helpful with suggestions of what to do when encountering difficulties.

BEST ANSWER: “Seventh Printing 2018, c 2007” written by Art Reed. My kids really appreciate watching the DVD lessons hosted by Mr. Reed which they watch before completing their math problems each day. This book was helpful for me to read.

Great Addition to Using the Math Books
I would definitely recommend for anyone looking to dive into Saxon Math books to read this book. It gives the ins and outs of why the program is written the way that it is. It gives tips on how to "credit" each course for transcripts. Reading this book helped me take a breath for a minute before diving (and drowning my children) into the deep end.

This is an excellent book to read if you are considering using Saxon Math It helped me to understand the rationale behind the way Saxon was meant to be used The author Art Reed personally knew John Saxon Saxon's math is designed for mastery and not just memorization That is the reason why there is so much repetition in SaxonIn this book the author spends half of the book explaining how to use Saxon correctly and also discusses the reasons and when to use graphic and scientific calculators The second half of the book dedicates a chapter to each of the actual textbooks from Math 54 to Calculus and Physics There are tips on how to accommodate slow/struggling/special needs learners as well as how to label high school transI especially liked how he described how to use Advanced Mathematics He strongly recommends using it over 2 years and tells how to do so After the completion of Algebra 1-Advanced Mathematics a high school student will have the equivalent of math credits up to pre-calculusThis book is an especially helpful for navigating through the high school years And gives me as a parent piece of mind that Saxon is a superior math curriculum
