Description
Publisher's Description of Finding a New Land - Test Packet

Eight tests use multiple choice, true and false, and matching questions to evaluate a student's vocabulary and comprehension of the Finding a New Land course material. An answer key is also included.

Teach reading skills using this God-honoring program filled with enriching and interesting reading material. Throughout this series, students read children- and history-oriented stories. Grade K emphasizes phonics instruction (2 books of single-syllable, short vowel, words; 2 books use multi-syllable words, long-vowel sounds). Grade 1 reinforces and applies these phonics skills. Grade 2 assumes students have a good grasp of phonics, so the series then shifts to progressively more challenging vocabulary and reading and emphasizes reading comprehension. Grade 3 stories span a broad history, including ancient and Bible. Grades 4-5 emphasize American history readings. Grade 6 highlights abridged and revised selections from classic authors. Some levels require Teachers' Manuals, student activities, and tests.

Category Description for Finding A New Land (4)

A completely revised and reworked version of Boys and Girls of Colonial Days, this reader has doubled in size! It now includes 8 units and 29 reading selections, including some poetry. You will find some of the same selections as in Boys and Girls, but plenty of "new" material taken from other history books of yesteryear. Stories involving famous figures, including Leif Ericsson, Columbus, Jonathan Edwards, Paul Revere, Betsy Ross, and Phyllis Wheatley are mixed in with stories of colonial children. Many stories now feature full-color illustrations, and vocabulary words are formatted in bold. After each story, you'll find a list of vocabulary words with definitions, five comprehension questions, and an extension activity. A test packet and an answer key are also available.
