Product Description:

These are the crayons made and used by the Handwriting Without Tears program. The crayons are small (measure 2.4" long) and are half one color and half another (one end green, the other red, etc). There are five crayons in all: red/green, blue/orange, pink/brown, black/grey, and blue/yellow. Rachel

The Get Set for School program is the high quality program you would expect from Handwriting Without Tears. This program was designed specifically for the preschool years, and uses the fun methods you would expect for that age. This program employs a unique, multisensory approach which prepares children to write. Children will play, build, sing, color and learn while developing important skills. Readiness & Writing Pre-K Teacher's Guide, now in its 8th edition, provides everything you need to understand the program and developmental stages to effectively teach the lessons. Topically, children learn the alphabet, letter and number recognition and formation, counting, shapes, colors and drawing. The writing focus is on uppercase letters, while lowercase letters are taught toward the end of the year (beginning in Week 30) using the My First Lowercase Book. Complete explanations are given on how to use the suggested manipulatives. Lessons are easy to use and there is a suggested 36 week schedule found in the front of the book. Crayon skills are developed while using special pages for scribbling and coloring. Strokes are practiced on "Mat Man" before ever making a letter. Capital letters and numbers are then practiced using a crayon. There are also extra activity pages which check readiness skills.

I Know My Numbers is a set of 10 small horizontal booklets (14 pgs ea), each centered on a number 1-10 that a student methodically works through as they practice writing and understanding these numbers. They are full of charming black and white illustrations and clear instruction. Little Chalk Bits is a good sized box (about 6.5"x 4"x 2) full of 1 pieces of thin (1cm) white chalk. This will go a long way! Little Sponge Cubes is a set of 100 (50 yellow/50 blue) small cubes (1cm) of kitchen sponge. Just right for tiny fingers to erase with!

This is a wonderful introduction to the world of handwriting for the preschool child. We offer several packages with both the most essential and also with recommended items for the program to fit your budget.

A follow up book to preschool is Kick Start Kindergarten, which reviews upper and lowercase letters, or the Kindergarten program, Letters and Numbers for Me.

My 5-year-old son loves these crayons. They are a little over half the size of a Crayola crayon (including both ends). They're great for keeping in an activity bag for church -- easy access to all the colors, but less to keep up with. They come in a nice little sliding matchbox.

I purchase the First Workbook through Writing Without Tears, but they only sell the crayons in a classroom set. Since I homeschool my two children, I only needed 2 sets. Rainbow Resource sells them in individual sets.

There are so many coloring activities and these crayons provide many color options without taking up the whole pencil case. They also encourage my kids to use more than one color, whereas before they would pick one crayon and stay with it the whole activity.

Ooh, I love these crayons. They're so much fun, but with there only being five in a little box, it's actually easier to keep track of them than a big set of crayolas. Plus, the shape makes it easier for little fingers to form letters.

Im wondering if these are the individually boxed sets of flip crayons? and is one set in a box for
$1.30?
A shopper on Oct 11, 2020
BEST ANSWER: The price is for one box that includes five of the double-ended FLIP crayons.
Are these crayons round or do they have a flat side?
A shopper on Dec 18, 2015
BEST ANSWER: They're round, and nice because kids can refer the name of the color to the color of the tip. But they don't have a flat side so they do roll off the table. It was nice to start with, but once the newness wore off, my 4yo prefered using his Crayola twistable crayons (the shorter ones). Hope that helps.

smaller than what I thought
i like these crayons but I wish they were a little bigger. They also break after some use and ours just got mixed in with the regular crayons when that happened. With that said I would purchase again. They are great for little hands. I wish wish they had more colors.

Perfect
These crayons are designed to develop fine motor skills as little fingers flip them around to get the color they want. I like them for that reason, but also because they are a cute, compact, and efficiently housed little package of high quality crayons for a tiny price. :)

I purchased these little crayons for my daughter because they came highly recommended and they are fantastic! Who would have ever though such little crayons would have such an effect on drawing skills My 3 year old daughter has not put them down since they arrived and immediately I noticed her creativity expanding as she used more colors in her drawings It's as if these crayons remind them to use other colors These are great!
