Just by reading the sample provided, this seems like an excellent Christian history book. We must teach our youth the correct version of history and this unabashedly tells the truth.

Goes from Ancient all the way to preindustrial. Seems very comprehensive and the questions at the end of the section seem to be thought provoking. Not much else is needed.

My 9th grader wants to study Ancient History this year. This is one of only a few curriculums I've found that will cover ancient history from a Biblical perspective and at a high school level. It is also affordable.

I will be teaching a high school class using this book as a base. It will provide an overview of ancient world history without all the other requirements such as literature, writing, research etc. We want to spin off the foundation set in this book and move into assignments that will gradually prepare students to enter their projects into the National History Day competition.

BEST ANSWER: Per the publisher: ; the support materials from the previous edition of the Streams of Civilization Vol 1 would not be compatible with a newer edition, or vice versa. There were enough changes to the layout of the information of the book to effectively make it a new title compared to the old edition (the information would not have changed, of course. What might have been Unit 3 in a previous edition might now be Unit 5, for example).
Is this third edition a hardcover book?

Wonderful 3rd edition update
The new updated edition is wonderful. The pictures are beautiful. The material is presented in a clear manner. I'd recommend this edition to homeschool families.

I first used this book for my oldest child who was in 6th grade at the time My 1st grader listened along and we all learned a lot from this book It is recommended for grades 9-10 and I would agree with this if you want your child to read it themselves My youngest child is going to be in 9th grade next year and I'm glad I saved this book We will use it again They give extra activities and books before each chapter You can do them or not The book itself is fine without them The things we chose to do I found all of the needed resources at the library or we already had them The only negative I have heard is that the pictures are all in black and white but this really never bothered us I have never used the tests so I have no comment on them

I purchased the entire line of products and have been quite pleased My daughter hated history before we started using these materials She is 13 now and has loved history since we started these books It is a very thorough and complete history curriculum The time line is helpful but not necessary Each chapter has a list of suggested activities/assignments to go with it They range from art projects to oral reports to written papers and many things in between It could easily be used to create your own unit studies Everything is presented in a detailed and interesting way Very thought provoking and accurate It does discuss darwinism versus creationism but is handled quite well and is a great starting point for emphasizing your faith and finding out where your child is in theirs Overall this is a great buy!

This book was wonderful! My 4th grader and I learned together side by side! This was a great book to share and we WILL use this book over and over! I can't wait to see what we discover when we turn the page! I would reccommend this book no matter what curriculum you use!
