Publisher Description:

The Botany Coloring Book is an exciting, new approach to learning botany. Though this book is of particular value to students of botany, any reader with an interest in plant life will find it an enjoyable and highly effective way to learn about plants.

Coloring provides an effective means of learning the fundamentals of botany. The structure and function of plants, a survey of the Plant Kingdom, and associated botanical terminology are all learned through the coloring process. Participation by the reader, through creative coloring, provides significant learning reinforcement. The text accompanying each coloring plate provides supportive explanatory material and leads the reader through the plate in a step-by-step manner. When finished, the colored plates provide an excellent review that the reader has helped create.

Category Description for HarperCollins Science Coloring Books:

Coloring - it's not just for kids anymore. These coloring books are more like high school science books with many accompanying black-and-white illustrations. On each pair of pages, in-depth text appears on the left, with detailed drawings on the right. Within the text, coloring instructions are given, coded to the drawings. Coloring the drawing insures that the student's mind stays on the subject at hand, and more of the material will be remembered.

What weight of paper is used? Can you use watercolor or markers?
A shopper on Jul 29, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The paper weight seems to be about the same as regular printer paper - too thin for watercolor but would possibly work for fine-tipped markers like are shown on the front cover. Still, we would suggest putting a manilla file folder under the page being colored to limit any bleed through problems.

My daughter really liked this book She said she learned a lot more than she thought she would as she was skeptical of learning from a coloring book but she now is happy she did it It was not an easy zip through it either It took her several months and she said it is definitely high school/ college level learning There was no prep on my part; I was just there if she had a question mostly about pronunciationI highly recommend this book
