If you could only buy ONE math manipulative this is it! We have had ours for years and all of our kids used it-everything from identifying number/color patterns to addition to multiplication and division The best part about it is that its self-contained The beads never come off the structure so mom never has to worry about the baby "eating" the math project!

We purchased the wooden abacus primarily as a math manipulative for our very visual 4 year old but found that it is a great tool for kids of all agesOur oldest is now 5 and uses it for addition and subtraction and our youngest son is learning to count and learning his colors on it as wellIt's definitely a wonderful product very well made and a great buy! I highly recommend it
