The completion of algebra. Covers uniform motion, chemistry-related problems, simultaneous equations with 2 and 3 variables, non-linear equations, geometry, right-triangle trigonometry, conversion from rectangular to polar coordinates, addition of vectors, complex numbers, quadratic formulas. Revised in 2006, this version includes Lesson Reference Numbers for all problem sets and tests, which refer the student back to the lesson the concept was presented in, so they can go back and review when they come to a difficult problem. This edition also features complete solutions for test questions (located in the test packet), improved graphics, and a revised glossary and index. 3rd edition.

Category Description for Saxon Math:

Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed.

The most popular homeschooling math program hands down! Highly recommended by both Mary Pride and Cathy Duffy, Saxon Math also wins our award for the "Most Requested Text." Saxon math is a "user-friendly" math program - even for Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and other usually difficult math topics. Learning is incremental and each new concept is continuously reviewed, so the learning has time to "sink in" instead of being forgotten when the next topic is presented. Higher scores on standardized tests and increased enrollments in upper-level math and science classes have resulted where Saxon has been used in public schools. Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed. Because of the format, children are able to work more independently.

My math oriented kids love Saxon.
Jennifer C on Jul 24, 2019
We love Saxon math. Math is taught in a simple fashion, in a logical manner. We tried another textbook last year that had all the bells and whistles: colorful pages, photos of famous people, side bar notes, and my daughter and I found all the informaiton distracting. We are going back to Saxon and have a new appreciation for its black and white pages!

Saxon is solid. We are continuing on with it.

Does the answer key workbook have answers to the text book also?
April P on Jun 29, 2020
BEST ANSWER: There are 2 books. 1) ANSWER KEY - which are the answers (not solutions) to the text book & 2) HOMESCHOOL TESTING BOOK - which are the tests and the solutions (not just the answers) to the tests.
Do the tests say A1 at the top?
A shopper on Jul 3, 2019
BEST ANSWER: The third edition tests do not say A!. The second edition "Home Study Packet: Test Forms" says Form A at the top of each test. There is a second volume with answers called "Home Study Packet"
Is the answer key for the problems in the book as well as the test answers?
A shopper on Sep 19, 2018
BEST ANSWER: The answer key has the answers for the student book and the testing book has the answers for the tests.
Does this set include the tests themselves or just the answers?
A shopper on Jul 31, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the student tests are included in a consumable, paper booklet. You have the option to let your child write in the book or they may write on a separate paper.

Saxon curriculum is a superb math curriculum with the bonus of being clever. The author builds the questions with historical figures and events and practical application. Very easy to teach or use as self taught depending on your child. Complete answer key and resources. Some complain about the recommendation of doing all the problems. I never have. You are the teacher, you can assign evens or odds, or choose what your kid needs to work on. Or have them do them all if that’s what is needed.
