Secret Door Game

Building friendship skills through teamwork is a great asset builder using Secret Door. When the boys started complimenting each other for their memory and assistance, it was a "ah hah" Moment.

Today has been a day of bickering between my kids but after taking away another game because of fighting it was a delight to hear all three (4 6 and 7) happily yelling "We won! We won!" It took me by surprise and I looked to see what they were talking about They had just played The Secret Door Cooperative games equal music to my ears!

I am absolutely thrilled I added this game to my pile of Christmas gifts for my daughter who is turning 5 in January I liked that it was a cooperative game and thought the mystery in a mansion would be enticing I had no idea it would be one of her favorite games She feels so "smart " solving the game together as a family and gets excited every time we have her open the door to reveal if our answer is correct She thought nothing of the light nature of the cardboard game pieces but took in all the details of the house and the "treasures" She squeals "Oh no! We're losing time!!!" whenever a clock is revealed etc I have already planned to purchase another game from this company for her birthday next month! 5 stars at our house

We are big fans of Family Pastimes Cooperative games! We own about 6 of them to date and try to purchase a new one for ourselves every year as a family Christmas gift As I had hoped Secret Door encourages working together in a natural way The cooperation idea doesn't seem "forced" Even without competition the game is enjoyable for all involved We have a 9 6 and 3 year-old who have played along with us grownups All of us were able to understand and cooperate to figure out a strategy There was no hurt feelings but plenty of good natured fun Everyone as a group feels the triumph of success or slight frustration of defeat No one is singled out as the one-who-lost-us-the-gameOne thing we have found with this game and all others by this company is the "cheapness" of the game design All parts of the game are cardboard ( no plastic or wood) The game board is considerably smaller than the typical board game size Most irritating are the card pieces which are the main component of the game play They are very small in size (difficult for small fingers to grasp without messing up the other pieces on the board which are crowded together on the small game board) and are made of VERY thin flimsy cardstock They are very easily lost or crinkled We are such fans of the game though that we have considered spending the extra money to get the cards laminated at a copy shop Game play takes a quick 10-15 minutes and doesn't require much preparation Instructions are simple and easy to learn even for preschoolers There is no reading or math skills involved Game play is as stated simple and easy It is basically a slightly glorified version of "memory" As in memory the strategy involved is mainly memorizing cards previously turned over The interesting addition is the grandfather clock card or the "bong!" as we endearingly call it in our house! Don't get too many bongs before you have found all the matches or the burglar wins and steals your family treasures!Again we LOVE the cooperative family games! Get more titles in stock!

I love the idea of cooperative games for my 3 oldest children The Secret Door game seemed like the easiest for them to all play Since purchasing it we have enjoyed it immensely My children are 9 5 and 3 and they can all participate in this game It is wonderful to see them help one another remember where the matches are located When we have our family game nights this is the one most often requested by the 3- and 5-year-old Even visiting family members are charmed by its unique approach I'm ordering 4 more games from the cooperative list as Christmas gifts for our family

We received The Secret Door as a birthday present and immediately my girls ages 6 and 4 loved it! The best way to describe the game is "memory with a purpose" In the past my daughters would get a little bored playing a regular Memory game However The Secret Door makes recalling fun because they have a purpose for finding the matches - to solve the crime before the clock strikes midnight As we played the game I enjoyed watching my girls work together to find a solution They would help one another locate the matching valuable Instead of getting upset when someone chose a clock piece they would say "That's okay we can still do it!" What a positive learning experience! We have yet to solve the crime before the clock strikes midnight - but that's okay because we must use deductive reasoning to solve the crime We get to play detectives as we guess what three matches are hidden behind the door based upon which valuables were left without a match I would highly recommend this game! While having fun your children can learn to work together use deductive reasoning and strengthen memory skills This is a wonderful game the whole family can enjoy Learning has never been so much fun!

Our family loves the game Secret Door It is an exciting memory-type game You have to use your memory to remember where the matches are but also to recall what is still missing Our kids (ages 6 and 11) have enjoyed playing this for the last 4 years It is a great game to play before they are able to read and beyond We would highly recommend this cooperative game to solve the mystery while working together as a family We also feel as the cost of games go that this game and the cooperative games in general are affordably priced

After reading about the cooperative games I decided to try The Secret Door to see if my children could play a game where everyone wins We quickly learned the strategy and loved it My children range in ages from 5 to 9 Each one of them can contribute to solve the mystery before all the time has passed My oldest pulls this game out to play with her friends that visit I was surprised to find that they play and not only do they all win when they win but they are not disappointed when they run out of time They try again This game is wonderful and I am excited to try the other cooperative games
