Category Description for Art With A Purpose:

Artpacs: appealing, easy to use, and inexpensive. We have used several levels in our school and they do an excellent job teaching coloring, shading techniques, elementary drawing, painting (mixing and technique, basic composition principles, and lettering (calligraphy). Using common supplies like crayons, glue, paints, and scissors and with detailed and clear directions, preparation time is about nil. Our children have really enjoyed these projects. In their new format, teacher instructions are included right in each pac. Each child will need their own Artpac. Pages are not reproducible.

I love the Art with a Purpose sets. I used them with my grown children when we homeschooled and I am using them with my adoptive daughter.

I have never used this, but wanted something that taught some art basics with direction. I am not artistic and need specifics.

The Artpacs are very convenient for having art projects ready to go. With the low price tag, my kid can hone art skills every week without me caring about the end result. While I am a secular homeschooler, I find that I can modify or omit the few overtly religious projects.

Should I get artpac 2 for a just about to turn 10 year old in 3rd grade? He hasn't done any before.
Jane H on Dec 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: You should be able to have him do either Artpac 2 or 3. They mainly just cover different content. While level 3 may be slightly more challenging, it should be very manageable at his age - especially if you are able to guide him. We have done all 8 levels with our children. These are wonderful projects that do not require a lot of time, materials, or expertise from the parent.

Gentle progress is a good way to describe our experience with using ArtPacs The instructions are simple and to the point and with a little direction children can see how a little technique can go a long way in getting art to come out on paper more like they envision it in their minds The lessons haven't required a lot of work on my part but they have stretched my daughter just a bit each time The price is right and they do exactly what we're looking for -- art expression with gentle positive progress Worth every penny
