In the Little House series as the author of this cookbook points out "much of the action centers on food - hunting it growing it losing it to natural disasters cooking it preserving it and eating it" That was their LIFE! I have yet to actual try to cook anything from my Little House Cookbook but I have enjoyed reading it several times! It is full of interesting kitchen/food history In addition to listing ingredients (and where to find them) Mrs Walker lists the pots/pans you will need for each recipe She quotes excerpts from the book(s) it's found in and also relays some background history and insight Reading this cookbook gives you a whole new appreciation for the events in the series
