Covers permutations, combinations, trigonometric and inverse functions, conic sections, matrices and determinants, binomial theorem, rational roots, Euclidean geometry. 2nd edition. Generally, students take 1 1/2 to 2 years to finish Advanced Math. After completing Advanced Math, students earn a Trigonometry with Precalculus credit. However, if students are college bound, taking Saxon Calculus (at least through lesson 25 because is covers derivatives) is beneficial. If students have completed Saxon Algebra I, Algebra II, and first half of Advanced Math, they can also earn a geometry credit.

We have used Saxon Math since kindergarten. I have slightly tweaked it to how my daughter learns, so it works well for her. I plan to use it through Calculus. I choose the older editions because I believe they are more thorough, not bending to the will of Common Core, and in line with the original philosophy behind Saxon Math.

During my 10 years of homeschooling our children, I have encountered both, families who love Saxon Math and those who do not. Well, we are one of the former. I find Saxon Math to be a solid math curriculum that prepares my students for the highest quality math possible. They have always done well on official tests and scored well above average in math, which I account at least in parts to the good curriculum.

Would Saxon Advanced Mathematics cover all Trigonometry? Would it prepare a student for the ACT test?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, it does. The ACT/SAT generally want a year of algebra and a year of geometry. We carry several Test Prep books with practice tests in them you could try.
Since this is the soft book 2nd edition how does it differ from the hard cover 2nd edition?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, this kit includes the textbook, the test booklet and an answer key. It does not include the solutions manual (#7787).

BEST ANSWER: Answer key, yes. Solutions manual, no.

The answer key, in the homeschool packet, has step-by-step solutions for the tests but only answers to the lesson problems.

The Solutions Manual, sold separately, has step-by-step solutions to every problem in the textbook.
