Switched on Schoolhouse has been discontinued and our stock is limited. The USB Flash drive will work on current Windows 10 Home or Pro versions (S mode not supported). AOP Technical support will be available until June 2022. According to Alpha Omega, the USB Drive should continue to work on Windows 10 beyond June 2022, but no tech support will be available.

This computer curriculum offers advantages over a text-based curriculum for both student and teacher. Please refer to the Curriculum/ Unit Studies section of this catalog for more in depth information on this product. USB Format. Minimum system requirements: Windows 10 Home or Pro (Up to Date); Dual Core 1.1 GHz or higher (2 GHz recommended), 4 GB RAM, 120 GB minimum total space with 5GB available hard drive space, and a 1024 x 768 or higher resolution monitor. Microsoft Office and a printer are recommended. Please note that the software is NOT Mac-compatible and is no longer Windows XP or Windows 8 compatible. Windows 10 S Mode is not supported.

LIFEPAC worktexts provide a complete, year-long science curriculum for each grade. From a Christian publisher, the approach is systematic mastery learning. It's very easy to teach from, with no need to write out lesson plans or prepare materials. You will have to gather equipment and materials for science experiments, however. Each grade contains 10 small consumable worktexts which the students progress through at their own pace. Each unit includes vocabulary, text, and comprehension questions to assure students retain the material. The science series is more activity-oriented than AOP's other subject LIFEPACs, with plenty of experiments to help illustrate science concepts. Grades 1-10 worktexts contain colorful illustrations; grades 11-12 are only available in black and white. Complete Boxed Sets also include a Teacher's Guide with teaching tips and answer keys. Sets of LIFEPACS only (no Teacher's Guides) are also available at each level for additional students.

Are the books supposed to be purchased with this do a child can go back and read it as well? Is it a stand alone curriculum meaning is anything else needed to purchase besides things for expirements?

BEST ANSWER: This is a stand alone course. All textual material and all student work (except for labs) are completed within the computer-based program. The student reads the textual material from the computer screen. There are no books to be purchased.
Can this be used for more than 1 child, such as younger siblings?

BEST ANSWER: Yes. The Switched-On-Schoolhouse courses can be loaded on up to two computers and used with up to five students at a time (with the option of deleting a student and adding a younger student in the future).
Are there experiements/labs included in this course, to be completed at home?

Can SOS be done independently by students?

BEST ANSWER: Yes, if you have a dedicated student and they grasp science quickly. You must check their progress weekly (some questions require parent/teacher grading). The Biology can be challenging to some students. Overall, I think SOS would be better if it had a textbook available. I know this seems to contradict the "computer" aspect but having to read everything on a partial screen can be challenging for some students. To be successful they must take notes because they can not go back into some of the lessons once they are completed.

Biology
This curriculum has it good things and bad things. The idea and concept of these programs is great. Not enough information on the subjects, and then when the student does the test, the curriculum changes the wording so much that they cannot answer the questions and even I as a teacher don't seem to be able to help them either.
