Can I use this for World History for highschool?
User on Jun 29, 2016
BEST ANSWER: This study gives a good overview of world geography, hits highlights of world history, and gives some basic insights into various cultures. As a high school course, this could be used as a framework to build in whatever direction you choose. A typical high school world history course would provide much more depth than this course. However, depending on the requirements of your state and how you build on the framework, it seems to me that it could be used as a high school level world history/world geography course.

BEST ANSWER: Yes, you can. In each continent there are study and geography questions and activity suggestions. In each of these areas there are some questions specifically for upper elementary, junior high, or high school. I will add that while I love the concept of these books, it was pretty difficult for my students (6th and 8th) to find the answers for many of these questions since there isn't a specific text that goes with these books. They ended up getting many of their answers online. I preferred they find them in books, but they were spending an enormous amount of time looking for very specific answers in a myriad of the suggested resources.

Ok.
I'm learning how to make this work but this is not anything like Apologia Science. There's a lot of extra work to make this a good curriculum for our 6th and 3rd grader.

This is THE best geography curriculum we've found There is just SO MUCH you CAN DO with this curriculum! We had 3 children using it when we 1st found it & we LOVE the ease of mulit-age & learning- style teaching We used it for basic Social Studies & Geography when our 4 were 7 9 & the youngest wasn't quite 2 (but he sure heard what was going on!) then again when our oldest 3 children were in High School & our youngest was 10 The older ones remembered SO MUCH from the 1st time around & I have enjoyed watching their understanding of the world as a whole deepen this time around Our 10 yo does the UE to the best of his ability I do almost no prep but I do help read the harder books to the youngest & help him understand concepts & meanings It is heavy on research for them-which leads them into more research even @ 7 & 9 we had them take the lead in doing the research but between a search engine & online dictionary they have all learned how to type well too! We also help them to find someone who lives on the continent in a country of particular interest to pen-pal with so they get 1st hand experiences We have purchased the books recommended used so we have a library for easy access Honestly we will use this again when our youngest gets to High School age After that I may keep a copy aroundjust in case :)
