Category Description for Saxon Math:

Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed.

The most popular homeschooling math program hands down! Highly recommended by both Mary Pride and Cathy Duffy, Saxon Math also wins our award for the "Most Requested Text." Saxon math is a "user-friendly" math program - even for Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus and other usually difficult math topics. Learning is incremental and each new concept is continuously reviewed, so the learning has time to "sink in" instead of being forgotten when the next topic is presented. Higher scores on standardized tests and increased enrollments in upper-level math and science classes have resulted where Saxon has been used in public schools. Students like Saxon because they feel successful in math instead of overwhelmed. Because of the format, children are able to work more independently.

I like Saxon because it provides continuous review so that students don't "test and forget". Tests are not over one topic, but over any topic covered so far. If a topic is a struggle, you continue to practice just one each homework for several weeks instead of 15-25 each day until the test and then don't see it again until next year. I feel Saxon is a good preparation for the ACT.

Does this text include Analysis?
A shopper on Jul 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: I'm not sure exactly what you mean by Analysis. The book does cover measure, limits, infinite series, and analytic functions. (More generally, the publisher claims that it covers all of both AP curricula.) Like the other Saxon books, the approach is not terribly theoretical - the focus is on types of problems and methods of solving them.
Does Saxon Calculus go beyond Calculus 1 and 2? That is does it cover Calculus 3 and/or beyond?
A shopper on Jun 8, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Saxon Calculus covers the material covered in the AP Calculus AB and AP Calculus BC exams - which is roughly equivalent to Calculus 1 and 2.
Does this book cover Calculus 1 and 2? Or does this book just cover Calculus 1?
A shopper on May 24, 2019
BEST ANSWER: Saxon Calculus covers the material on the AB and BC Calculus Advanced Placement exams.
What course did you use in place of a pre calculus (I noticed Saxon does not offer pre calculus)?
A shopper on Aug 2, 2016
BEST ANSWER: My son completed the following Saxon courses in this order: Algebra 1(8th), Geometry (9th), Algebra 2 (10th), and Advanced Mathematics (11th). I believe that all the pre-calc you need is in the Advanced Mathematics. He will be working on the Calculus this coming school year as a high school senior. He took the SATs while about half way through the Advanced Math and scored very well on the math portion.
Is the textbook hardcover?
lane on Oct 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Yes, the textbook is hardcover.
