I'm reading this guide and still attempting to determine how it fits in with the rest of the curriculum including the student guide and teaching guide to the Homer Series It would seem that if you purchase the student workbook and the teachers guide to the student workbook that you wouldn't neccessarily need to purchase this However if one wished to study a subject more indepthly or if one wished to have a whole navigational system for teaching literature classically this might be for you particularly if you were planning on using your own narratives For our home I think it may be too complicated (I may revise my thoughts on this as we go along) So far it feels a bit overdone in some areas and under explained in others If you do purchase be sure to pick up a copy of Harvey's grammar as this text suggests its use and the use of a sentence diagramming book Overall: Love the Student Workbook and the Teacher's Guide to the Student Workbook for Homer This text which I assume is the primary resource for their course is a bit hard to manage at first If your planning on using it to get your feet wet in classical and haven't (like me)spent much time working in the classical model; I strongly recommend purchasing a semester in advance With reading this indepth plan on reading for several weeks so that you can prep appropriately - it is not an open and go series at all in my opinion I am still wondering how I will or if I will use it The workbook on the other hand is VERY straight forward and easy to use takes some planning but not nearly as much Definately get the teachers companion to the guide
