Product Description:

A perfect introduction to the human body for a primary child! In this book, the body is explained, literally, piece by piece, as children add body parts to their own body outline! The book is full of reproducible handouts and patterns that tell you what the part of the body does and what color to make the organ. First you should explain the functions of the body part to start out your study. Then you cut, paste, and follow directions to place the body part correctly on each child's traced body outline. I would recommend only covering one or two body parts in a day. Then there are instructions on how to turn the explanation sheets into a small booklet that they children can keep! With the help of this book, your children will be introduced to the brain, heart, kidneys, bladder, cells, spleen, pancreas, gall bladder, reproductive organs, skeleton, muscles, stomach, intestines, liver, lungs, skin, eyes, nose, ears, tongue, and face. A "personal" approach to studying the human body! 40 pgs, pb. - elise

We needed a simplified overview of the human body especially designed for early elementary. It was recommended on Cathy Duffy's reviews.
I am teaching a unit on the human body and this is a great resource! I bought one book per student with my supply money for the class. I also give them a large 9x12 inch envelope to store their colored cutouts in. On the last day, each student will assemble their body on a life-sized outline of themselves.

Hmm...maybe.
50/50 here. I like this book. My child not so much. It would be fine for a child that is into anatomy. Just too much for the general learning mode.

My Body workbook
My kids really enjoy this activity book. We traced their bodies on white paper and have been studying an organ a day and pasting it in the appropriate place. It's very simple but affective. For older kids they can even do copy work about each organ. Great value!

This was a wonderful project for our family I used it for a 4 and 6 year old Great short kid friendly explanation for each body part No prep time need (other than making copies of the body parts) I had the kids lay on bulletin board paper and traced their bodies on the first day then we slowly added a body part once or twice a week Some of the organs were a bit big for my 4 year olds body but I would just cut them smaller or pinch fold them in the middle to make them smaller Totally worth the price!

I just finished "My Body" with our 5 year old son and our 6 year old daughter I actually traced their body on butcher paper Then they colored and cut out the parts while I read the little blurb about it You fasten the parts with glue and brad fasteners so that you can move them to see what's underneath It is a great introduction to the human body for early elementary children and very cost effective We also supplemented with picture books from the public library My 5 year old says "it was interesting"

We used the My Body book to learn simple internal human anatomy when my daughter was 4 years old It made for an excellent semester-long science program It would also work well for older children either alone or as a supplement The basic premise is to make a large human body shape out of paper then attach parts of the body photocopied from this book The book gives specific instructions for how and where to attach the pieces to make the human body figure correct such as placing the gallbladder behind the liver My daughter colored each body part according to the recommended colors while I read to her a provided page about how that body part functions We covered one body part per week or older kids could do more When our grandmother had a problem with her spleen my daughter at age 4 knew exactly what the spleen was and why it was important that Grandma go to the doctor! Another time a relative was quite surprised that she knew where her bladder was and all about its function although I must admit she didnt pick the best time and place to have a discussion about body functions The only modification we made to the use of the My Body book was to actually trace my daughters body outline on a large roll of paper instead of using a generic body shape She was just the right size for the body parts provided and it really helped bring anatomy to life for her to put the pieces on her own body We kept the body chart hanging on our wall for two years and used it often as a reference The price of the book was quite reasonable especially since well use it again
