If you have read the Katie Art Appreciation series, then you are familiar with the young girl Katie who visits the art museum with her grandma. This same Katie visits the National Gallery and guides kids through these lovely art appreciation activity books. The books all have a full reproduction of famous paintings and each book has a different activity. Learn to Draw with Katie gives step-by-step instructions on how to draw an object from a painting or space to draw your own version of the painting. There is also a coloring technique page in the back and some interesting facts about the artists. Get Colouring with Katie has a replica of different paintings to color. Discover Art with Katie has over 150 stickers and different word search or maze activities included. The artists’ names are given next to the paintings. Each book has about 10-15 paintings. While these books correlate somewhat with the original series, they can certainly be used on their own. Children will love to learn about artists and their work as they have fun taking part in their own activities.
