Conquering New Standards Informational Text
Reading informational text is a necessary skill and this series does a great job of identifying, practicing, and strengthening the skills needed to do it effectively. Identifying and aligning to standards, the series covers basic reading skills (identifying main idea/supporting details, looking at sequence, and point of view) and provides experience with different types of informational text (historical, scientific, and technical). It even covers maps, charts, graphs, photographs, and illustrations – the add-ons that strengthen our understanding. Each grade level book provides modeling/tips, practice, and suggestions for discussion. The student is often able to complete assignments independently. Answer key included. 128 pgs, pb ~ Janice
