Abeka Health Grade 1
Designed to read aloud, this introductory health program focuses on basic health topics like healthy eating, exercise, good posture, sleeping habits, caring for skin and hair, protecting eyes and ears, proper dental hygiene, general safety habits, and proper manners. Health is 6 weeks in length and scheduled 3 days per week for approximately 20 minutes per lesson.
There are three components at this grade level: a student reader, the teacher edition and the combined history, science and health curriculum lesson plans. The softcover, consumable student reader includes age-appropriate readings, colorful graphics, and activity pages. The spiral bound teacher edition includes the student reader with teaching notes along the side. Teaching notes include oral reading and discussion notes, as well as reading comprehension questions (with answers). Activity pages with answers are also included. Additional teaching notes and resources are found in the back of the teacher edition, for example: the scope and sequence and daily plans with preparation and teaching procedure notes. The homeschool curriculum lesson plans include expanded daily lessons for history, science and health. It also includes a schedule for art and music (sold separately). Expanded daily lesson plans teach history, science, and health consecutively throughout the year. Grade 1 focuses on social studies and community helpers first, followed by science, history, and health. Not reproducible.
